According to a report released recently from the UN office in Dhaka, Bangladesh, around 5.8 million people in the northeastern and southeastern regions of Bangladesh have been affected by severe and unexpected flooding. More than 1 million people are stranded in communities cut off by the flooding, and 502,501 people have been displaced. They are currently taking shelter in 3,403 evacuation centers.
The reason for Bangladesh flooding is both geopolitical and natural. The north of India is also experiencing the same flooding due to heavy rainfall this year and climate effects. World Concern is reaching out to the extremely vulnerable in Bangladesh with emergency rescue efforts, shelter, food, clean water, and medication. We are responding with the help of donors and funding partners. Our primary targets are areas where no organizations have been able to provide assistance to the victims. Local communities and church leaders are helping our staff to reach the people most in need.
Please give today to help Bangladesh flood victims rebuild their lives.
