The Texas Association of Broadcasters (TAB) has announced that KFMK SPIRIT 105.9, a station of CRISTA Media, has been selected as a 2016 recipient of the Bonner McLane Public Service Award. This prestigious annual award recognizes television and radio stations’ outstanding contributions and service to their local communities.

The selection of KFMK is a recognition of the station’s relentless flood relief response efforts and coverage of the devastating floods that ravaged central Texas in May 2015. SPIRIT 105.9’s swift response to the historic flooding included partnering with the Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN), running a flood relief donation drive, collecting cleaning supplies, serving hot meals to ground volunteers and families, and serving as a consistent source of information and resources for the people of central Texas impacted by the natural disaster.

KFMK will be officially recognized with the Bonner McLane Public Service Award on Thursday, August 11, at a ceremony taking place within the annual Texas Association of Broadcasters Annual Convention and Trade Show.

Stated Oscar Rodriguez, TAB President: “This award reflects KFMK’s extraordinary leadership in serving the local community. (KFMK) can be particularly proud to stand first among hundreds of radio stations serving the four largest cities in Texas!”

“We are incredibly humbled to be honored with the Bonner McLane Public Service Award,” stated KFMK SPIRIT 105.9 General Manager Tim McCoy. “On behalf of SPIRIT 105.9 and our incredible listening audience, I want to thank the Texas Association of Broadcasters. Serving others will remain at the forefront of who we are and what we do. We truly believe this to be the SPIRIT of Austin.”
