When drafting your will, or when changing your will by a codicil, you should always consult your own professional advisors. To help you and your professional advisors, CRISTA Ministries offers the following sample bequest language for your gifts.

Bequest of Cash

“I give the sum of ____________________________ dollars ($__________) to CRISTA Ministries of Seattle, Washington, or its successor organization, to be used for its general purposes.”

Residual Bequest

“I give all [alternative: ________ percent (_____%)] of the residue of my estate to CRISTA Ministries of Seattle, Washington, or its successor organization, to be used for its general purposes.”

Restricting your bequest to a specific program

General bequests give us the most flexibility to use your gift to advance our mission. If you wish to restrict the use of your bequest to a specific program, you may direct that your bequest be used to benefit a specific program. For example:

“I give all of the residue of my estate to CRISTA Ministries of Seattle, Washington, or its successor organization, to be used for [specify ministry/need].”

The possible areas you might specify are:

  • Camps
  • CRISTA Ministries
  • King’s Schools
  • King’s Schools – student financial aid
  • Media
  • Senior Living
  • Senior Living – The Good Samaritan Fund (Shoreline)
  • Senior Living – The Good Samaritan Fund (CRISTA Shores)
  • World Concern *

Pledge

“I have pledged a gift of ______________________ dollars ($____________) to CRISTA Ministries. To the extent that, at the time of my death, I shall not have paid the amount of such pledge in full, I direct my executor to pay in full the unpaid balance of such pledge to CRISTA Ministries, or its successor organization.”
